Scarlett's Closet is a designer sample sale like those held at Nordstrom's Rack, Filene's Basement or Neiman Marcus Last Call. Like these stores, we offer the savvy shopper a great deal.
Our wedding dresses and special occasion dresses are one of a kind salon samples. You get superior quality and style by a world famous designer for a fraction of the retail price.
In return, you accept a little-less-than-perfect floor sample. Common drawbacks include a missing hook or eye, soil under the hem or train, a dangling bead here or there. We consider these ordinary wear, so common that we do not bother to note them in our description.
Still, no one likes surprises, so we inspect and describe every gown on our website so you'll know what to expect.
Our standards for condition
We scrutinize the condition of wedding dresses and special occasion dresses before listing and before shipping. We note fitting room wear, if any, and disclose the condition in the description. The condition of each dress is graded according to industry standards as follows:
- New - never active as a floor sample, no wear of any kind. This is A+.
- Excellent - active floor sample with only very slight fitting room wear. This wear is so minor that it often escapes notice, including a missing or dangling bead, a missing hook or eye, security tag marks and dust at the hem or under the train. This is A-.
- Very good - active floor sample with visible wear which we disclose. This wear may include missing bead work, a minor seam separation, a missing button or soil at the hem and under the train. This dress can be restored to perfection with light mending and professional dry cleaning. This dress gets a B.
Note: Even when a sample gown is in excellent condition, you may want to have it professionally dry cleaned
and pressed. All taffeta dresses require professional pressing after
being shipped.
